Where you can sit the test
IELTS runs in a large number of Indian cities — far more than most candidates realise — so you rarely have to travel far:
- Metro hubs such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata run frequent sessions in both formats.
- Tier-2 cities including Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kochi and Lucknow have regular sessions.
- Many smaller cities are added based on demand, especially for the computer-delivered test.
How to register
- 1Choose your test type — Academic (for university study) or General Training (for most migration and work), and computer or paper format.

- Available after a computer-delivered IELTS, and typically must be booked within 60 days of the original test.
- You can retake only one skill — Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking.
- Check that your receiving institution accepts a One Skill Retake result before you rely on it.
