What to bring
- The same valid identity document (usually your passport) you used to register — this is checked carefully, and a mismatch can stop you sitting the test.
- Nothing else is required for the computer-delivered test; stationery is provided for paper. Personal items go into storage.
- Arrive early — latecomers are often refused entry, and check-in (photo and identity verification) takes time.
Phones and watches
Phones, smartwatches and any electronic device must be switched off and stored away — having one on you during the test can void your result. Leave valuables at home where you can.
The order of the day
Listening, Reading and Writing are taken back-to-back in a single sitting of roughly two hours and forty-five minutes, with no scheduled break between them. The order is fixed:
- 1Listening — around 30 minutes (plus transfer/review time depending on format).
- 2Reading — 60 minutes.
- 3Writing — 60 minutes, covering both Task 1 and Task 2.
When is Speaking?
Speaking is scheduled separately. Depending on the test centre it may be on the same day as the other three sections, or on a different day within a week before or after. You'll be told your Speaking slot in advance — check your confirmation carefully so you don't miss it.

During the test
- You may not leave with any test materials, and rough notes are collected.

- There is no extra time; manage the clock yourself, especially in Reading and Writing.
- If you need to leave the room during the test, you'll usually be escorted and the clock keeps running.
